2018 is here and with it come a whole bunch of opportunities. Truth be told, we think any time of year is a good time to start something new and exciting but there’s not denying that January 1 has that fresh feel to it.

Hopefully one of your 2018 resolutions is to start using your bicycle for more than just pleasure. Don’t get us wrong. We think cycling is one of life’s great pleasures but we get a great deal of enjoyment knowing our bikes are tools as well as entertainment.

The best way to take your bike beyond entertainment (and fitness, of course!) is to increase its functionality. A bike is a great way to move you and you alone (unless you’re on a tandem) but takes a little bit of tweaking to move it into workhorse territory.

Coming up with the full amount of most things is difficult. But putting a little something away every paycheque or every month takes the sting out it.

Print off a picture of your goal (ahem, maybe the cargo bike below?) and put it somewhere you can see it. Stay focussed on the goal!
