If you detach your trailer from your bike and flip the tow bar over, this front wheel provides better balance. Not meant to be a full stroller, does not come with brakes or push bar handle.
Dear Wike, Thank you!! We bought a Wike
double child trailer back in about 2000-2002. It has a metal floor. We are
still using it today!! It has survived our 4 children and countless nieces
and nephews. Our oldest in now 21 and in college while our youngest is 11yrs old. We love to bike and originally bought this trailer when we had 2 very young children and lived near a Rail Trail. Our girls would sit in the
trailer and watch the world go by as my husband and I biked for miles. We added small pillows behind their backs so their helmets would fit more comfortably. They often fell asleep in the trailer. We loved the roomy back storage pocket and used the floor space for a cooler or other large gear.
As our family and children grew and we moved around the country, and our trailer became invaluable. We got all sorts of compliments and questions about it. We are still using the trailer, but now as an equipment trailer.
Each summer we take a trip to Cape Cod and a day or two of riding on the 24 mile Rail Trail is always part of our vacation. Our Wike has visited
countless beaches and carried all our beach gear for the day. A few years ago our youngest was about 6 and having trouble keeping up, she was exhausted and due to her small size had a bike with small wheels. Well, we were all tired and grumpy and just wanted to get back to the campground. The older ones were complaining she was holding us up. My husband decided it was time to take drastic action. We rearranged the gear in the trailer and buckled her in. What to do with the bike? He picked it up and managed to place it in the rear storage pocket- sure it wasn't the most stable and required a few bungee cords, but we were able to get everyone safely back to our campsite and the story has become a family legend. This year we will again head to Cape Cod and our Wike will come with us. Except for a few patches of dirt, a slightly faded yellow cover, an a long ago lost flag it looks great and still works as well as when we received it almost 20 years ago. I remember speaking to someone at your company when I was trying to decide to invest in what I thougt was a pretty large investment for our
small family. He told me it was super durable and he promised it would not need to be replaced. Well he wasn't kidding! He told me the frame was designed to be used a small, low cost, go-cart type car. That sounded like the quality would be pretty good. I was suggesting WIke trailer to a new neighbor and thought I'd take a look at your website. I have to admit the colors may have changed and there look to be a few minor design changes, but overall you are still selling the same high quality trailer I bought almost 20 years ago. I don't remember the name of the man I spoke with at your company, but he was absolutly right it may have been one of the best investments we ever made. Thank you for all you do!!
