Our modern day automobiles evolved in the mechancial revolution of the late 19th century. Strong frames and hard bodies protected the occupants from the outside world. But does that model have the right genes to move transportation into the 21th century. Perhaps the better evolutionary path would have been with the bicycle as its seed. As we become a more urban society and place greater value on our shared space the core automobile mantra â€œprotect the occupantâ€ is now in question.
